How to fluff a buckwheat pillow that is too firm.
Over time the buckwheat hulls inside your pillow will begin to compress. When this happens your pillow will feel even firmer than usual. And that’s saying something, given that buckwheat pillows are already one of the firmest types of pillows available.
If this happens, it can be hard to get your head comfortable, especially if the pillow has as much give as your tiled floor. To be bother comfortable and supportive, a buckwheat pillow must conform to your head, and it cannot do this when the buckwheat kernels have fallen flat.
Fortunately, softening up your pillow is as simple as giving it a good fluffing, just like you would do with a feather pillow.
Fluffing your buckwheat pillow is as easy at this:
Step 1: Find your buckwheat pillow!
You can’t fluff a buckwheat pillow if you don’t have one. If you are considering buying a buckwheat pillow than you should check out the top rated buckwheat pillows that we tested and reviewed!
Step 2: Grab the sides of the pillow
Grab the pillow by the sides and move your hands together as if you are playing an accordion.
Make sure you have a good grip, a buckwheat pillow is much heavier and takes a bit more muscle to fluff than your ordinary feather pillow.
Step 3: Don’t stop until a plump buckwheat peak forms
After a couple of back and forth motions, you will begin to notice the buckwheat hulls inside the shell of the pillow move from the sides of the pillow to the center, forming a mound. You can now stop fluffing your pillow.
Step 4: Sleep on it!‘
The only thing left to do is rest your head on this buckwheat mound, in your natural sleeping position. The buckwheat hulls will conform to your head as the excess hulls fall down into the sides of the pillow.
Fluff your buckwheat hull pillow as often as you need to. I typically do it once a night, before going to sleep. Even if the pillow doesn’t need it. This way the buckwheat hulls conform perfectly to the weight of my sleeping position that night. And because the whole process only takes a few seconds, why wouldn’t you?
