Sleeping position

One of the most common issues with sleeping in your earrings is dealing with those sharp earring backings stabbing your neck all night long. You know, the type found on stud earings?
This is really only an issue if you sleep on your side or stomach. The side of your head is mashed into your pillow and as a result, those pointy earring backings end up stabbing your neck all night long.
A simple solution to this problem is simply changing your sleeping position. Sleeping on your back means that your earlobes won’t come in contact with your pillow and your neck will remain puncture-free.
Understandably, old habits die hard and training yourself to sleep on your back can be tough. While If sleeping on your back is not something that you can get in the habit of doing, there is a way to sleep on your side and avoid being stuck by your earrings.
Try folding your arm under your head. Position your ear over the little pocket of air in the crevice of your arm. This allows you to sleep on your side while still keeping your earlobe contact-free.
Specialty pillow

Replacing your current pillow with one of the following can lead to a comfortable sleep for full-time earring wearers
Various retailers offer something called an ear infection pillow. Basically this is a foam, ring-shaped pillow that allows your ear to rest in the center. This keeps your earlobes from touching anything and mashing those sticky posts into your neck. More designs look similar to your regular pillow with a recessed area in the middle.
Another option for sleeping comfortably with earrings is the U-shaped travel pillow. This style of pillow supports your neck while keeping your ears from making contact with anything. It can also be a useful tool to promote sleeping on your back, which is another way to sleep comfortably with earrings.
Manage your mane

While it’s generally recommended to sleep with your hair loose and free from any elastic bands, this isn’t the case when sleeping with earrings on.
Sleeping with a loose locks leaves room for your hair to get tangled up with your earrings, particularly those darn dangle earings. This is not only painful but it can damage your hair, earrings, or even tear your earlobes.
In order to avoid any messy encounters between your hair and earrings while you sleep, keep your hair tied back when you sleep. To avoid breaking or damaging your hair while its tied back, be sure to use fabric or ouch-free hair bands.
Specialty backings

One of the most effective ways to sleep comfortably with your earrings in is to invest in a pair of specialty backings.
There are a variety of different kinds of these special backings available and they all have one thing in common – they make sleeping with earrings extremely comfortable.
Some of these specialty backings feature a screw-on flat back. This allows you to sleep on your side without getting stuck in neck.
Another option available when it comes to specialty backings are backings made from silicone or rubber. These versatile backings slip right over most earring posts and protect your neck from sharp earring backs.
