Luna is one of the most popular natural sleep aids on the market. This over-the-counter herbal supplement has helped thousands of people achieve a better and longer sleep.
Is this the sleep aid for you? Read on to find out!
Luna’s promise is simple:
Luna is the #1 Natural Sleep Aid that calms you before bed and gives you deep, restful sleep so that you wake up feeling refreshed and energized
As is common with herbal supplements, these claims have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
We were a little puzzled by the #1 claim on the packaging. We suspect that this #1 refers to Luna as being the best selling sleep aid on Amazon.
Take 1-2 capsules 30-60 minutes before bed or as directed by your health care professional.
Considering that each bottle of Luna contains 60 capsules, each bottle should last a minimum of 30 days.
Serving size: 2 capsules – Ingredients based off amount per serving. Only taking one pill? Halve the ingredients.
- Magnesium (bisglycinate chelate) – 10 mg

Well, Luna definitely passes the all-natural test although it is worth mentioning that L-Theanine, GABA and Melatonin are produced synthetically, despite being naturally occuring.
It was nice to see that Luna had taken the extra step of using vege-caps, a gelatin-free capsule alternative that is suitable for vegans.
No ingredients are habit forming which means you won’t get hooked. You could stop taking Luna right now and not feel any withdrawal symptoms.
Like most natural sleep aides, Luna is manufactured right here in the United States.
The ingredients are similar to that of teas for sleep, with all ingredients linked to improving not only the time it takes to fall asleep but the overall sleep quality. We covered most of the ingredients in our 101 ways to get better sleep guide

Opening up a container of Luna natural sleep aid
Yep, we decided to do an unboxing for Luna sleep aid.
Straight up, Luna is one of the prettier packaged sleep aids we have come across. It’s striking purple label will make it stand out from your other medications sitting in your medicine cabinet.
The lid is covered in a tamper seal, for your safety. Use either long nails or the tip of a knife to remove it.
Twisting off the lid reveals a second tamper proof seal covering the neck of the bottle. You never can be too careful. It goes without saying that if either tamper proof seal is broken when your delivery arrives that you should immediately contact customer service.
Peeling back the second tamper seal allows you to take a peak inside the bottle:
Yep, that’s cotton wool. Cotton is commonly found in over-the-counter pill bottles. Because the pill bottles are not filled too the top, the cotton prevents the pills from bouncing around during transport and breaking open.
Once you have opened your new bottle of Luna sleep aid you should dispose of the cotton. Because cotton is porous it can absorb dust, dirt and other nasties and contaminate the pill bottle.
With the cotton removed you sweet herby scent will waft out from the bottle. Valerian and passion flower seem to be the dominating smells.
As is common amongst herbal supplements, the pills are quite large, nearly as long as a nickel.
If your gag reflex triggers just looking at it, don’t stress. The capsuals easily slide down your throat with a sip of water. You can even break the capsules in half mix it with water if you so choose, although the result is a little bitter for our liking.
Does it work?
Here’s, the thing. Everyone reacts differently. I have yet to come across a sleep aid with a 100% success rate. And I don’t think I ever will.
As with all natural sleep aids, the effect is lighter. If you only have a mild case of insomnia then you should give it a go.
It worked well for me, I noticed I drifted off to sleep much quicker and the best part, no morning grogginess!
The same cannot be said of my husband, but when he gets insomnia it hits him hard. As a lawyer he stays up late on the computer and works long hours. To say he has poor sleep hygiene is putting it lightly. As you might have guessed, the Luna sleep aid wasn’t much of a help to him.
But the best part about Luna sleep aid is their no questions money back guarantee. If it doesn’t work for you, ask for a refund and try something else.
